An actress from the Academic Musical Theatre has been honored by the Union
The play "Gulchohra and Asgar"—staged based on the motifs of People's Writer Kamal Abdulla's play of the same name—was performed to mark the jubilee of Almaz Alasgarova, an actress at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theatre and an Honored Artist.
The production reflects the socio-political events of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic era, particularly the bitter consequences of the material and spiritual blows inflicted upon the country by the Bolsheviks. The actress played the role of Aunt Jahan in the production.
At the conclusion of the performance, which was met with applause, Almaz Alasgarova was awarded the "Teatr Fadaisi" (Devotee of the Theatre) medal by the Union of Theatre Workers of Azerbaijan in recognition of her jubilee. The award was presented to her by the Union's Deputy Chairman, People's Artist and Professor Ilham Namiq Kamal.
The artist also received congratulations on behalf of the theatre's management and staff, and was presented with certificates of honor from both the theatre and the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Cultural Workers' Trade Union.
