Jabir Safarov

(1924-1990)

Born in 1924. In his youth, he played in the crowd scenes of the best performances, worked with the most prominent actors of that time, including Sidgi Ruhulla, Mirzaaga Aliyev, Agasadyg Geraybeyli, Marziyya Davudova, Fatma Gadri, Ismayil Osmanly and many others, learned from these outstanding artists, also he was interested in history, theory of theatre and theatre criticism. Jabir Safarov, who participated in the Great Patriotic War, was accepted into the theatre studies department of the Azerbaijan State Theatre Institute in 1948 and graduated in 1953.

Jabir Safarov, in different years was the head of the department of the “Literature and Arts” newspaper, the head of the cultural and educational department of the Azerbaijan State Theatre Institute, the director of the “Friendship” theatre, deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan Theatre Society. He was engaged in theatrical life not only of our republic, but was interested in the activities of other Azerbaijani theatres in Central Asia, Georgia, and made great efforts to develop creative relationships.

Jabir Safarov died in 1990.
